Equalities Statement

Equality of provision is VERY important to everyone at Airy Hill. Our schools vision and values promote this. We adhere to YEAT’s Equality Policy 2021

 We are a UNICEF Silver Rights Respecting School. All school policies relating to the PSED and Equalities Act 2010 relate to Articles 2,3,5,12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 31, 39

 As a school community:

  • We believe that all learners are of equal value, but that each one is unique
  • We aim to reduce and remove inequalities and barriers that already exist in a kind and considerate manner
  • We tackle discrimination through the positive promotion of equality, by challenging bullying and stereotypes and by creating an environment which champions respect for all
  • We consult our whole school community regularly and act upon responses
  • We are determined to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those connected to the school feel proud of their identity and ability to participate fully in school life
  • We base our practices on sound evidence and research
  • We recognise and respect differences at all times
  • We formulate and publish specific and measurable objectives to demonstrate equality of opportunity
  • We foster positive attitudes and relationships and  a shared sense of cohesion and belonging
  • We observe good equalities practice in staff recruitment, retention and development
  • Our governors are committed to challenging the school regularly regarding the above statements
